Pixel sorting is confined to expanding lichen-, mycelium-, dendrite-, or slime-mold-shaped regions. Growth topology replaces the raster row or column as the sorting path.

Sgueltch is a suite of image, video, sound, and type tools for making digital errors that do not default to scanlines, macroblocks, and hard rectangular fractures. Sgueltch moves away from traditional glitch art's rigid, pixelated, grid-based disruptions and toward fluid, continuous, messier distortion.
An error inherits the structure it breaks. The familiar look of glitch are aesthetic traces of specific epistemics, technical systems, and the defaults that computation inherits. Sgueltch thinks from different defaults first and asks what digital error and distortion can become from there.
Glitch interrupts an established order and makes that order perceptible (Rosa Menkman; Michael Betancourt); glitch feminism turns the rupture toward refusal of the normative body a system presumes (Legacy Russell). Sgueltch retains this diagnostic force but questions its aesthetic limit: error remains inside the system it exposes. Like tissue under stress, which can respond only through its existing cellular mechanisms, a damaged format has a bounded repertoire of stereotyped responses. JPEG yields blocks because it is organized through block transforms; row-wise raster operations yield scanlines because the image remains a grid.
That repertoire is historical and engineered. Formats preserve some information and discard other information (Jonathan Sterne); as standards spread, those choices recede into infrastructure and habit (Susan Leigh Star). A substrate therefore carries both a technical organization and a prescriptive claim about what a signal should be: it fixes units, adjacency, salience, and permitted change.
A format embeds judgments about what counts as proper, clean, orderly, and efficient. In establishing that order, it also defines its dirt: the data and relations that do not belong within it (Mary Douglas). Conventional glitch can rearrange or displace the units a format admits, but it cannot restore what the format has discarded or produce relations its substrate and decoder cannot interpret. The artifact may violate the arrangement while leaving the format's definition of the possible intact. Sgueltch therefore changes the substrate and its interpretation before introducing error, so both signal and failure arise within another order.

SiltCRT replaces the regular RGB-triad lattice with silt cells, overlapping Gaussian bodies, or weighted Voronoi territories; a block grid remains as a control. Geometry and signal memory vary independently, combining dry refresh, phosphor-like remanence, or advected wet feedback with turbulence, chromatic bleed, Kawase bloom, and subtractive Umbra.

Noised Voronoi regions stop refreshing their source pixels, continue to advect under optical flow, and accept content from a later frame or a second clip.
